Cancer patient told to read website in her night gown after cancer diagnosis

The nurse, who worked as a nursing assistant at the St. Joseph hospital in Boston, did not give out a name

The patient was in full health but was found to have been suffering from anxiety

'He wasn't comfortable with us taking him out of the hospital,' said Dr. Jennifer G. Dannemann, spokeswoman for Suffolk Healthcare.

Boston officials said the hospital would'remain supportive' of the woman.

The hospital said it will be putting a screening program in place at all of the hospitals in the facility when the patient arrives in the fall.

The nurse was not the only patient taken off the ward by the nurses, according to hospital officials.

Boston Mayor Thomas Menino (above) said at a press conference, 'We're sorry to hear this. It's really heartbreaking to learn of this because we love our patients.'

The family has been notified of the case, according to a release.

Boston's hospitals said they have taken steps to help their staffs improve their screening procedures and processes to improve patient safety.

'All patients receive thorough patient care,' a statement read. 'The hospital has put in place a process to assess the patient's health to determine the appropriate use of resources and care, and in some instances, the appropriate use of resources and care will be restricted in certain conditions or circumstances such as acute or chronic illness.'

Patient: The incident is similar to how the woman suffered, Boston Health official said.

By the time of the incident on February 26, a week after the incident, doctors from the private hospital who treat the boy at ATCH were not even aware that he had died from exposure to chlorine or radiation.


On February 19, the hospital and ATCH are also under fire over its decision to open an operation room just eight days after a suicide attempt, with the suicide note, which contained the initials of his parents and hospital director.


The ATCH was also caught up in a police sting involving the murder of Dr Robert D. Lunsford.


Lunsford, who died on July 8, 2010 after the suicide of his girlfriend, was the CEO of the private hospital in the South Korean city.


The scandal emerged just days after the government of South Korea agreed to buy a controlling stake in ATCH from South Korean government and a Chinese consortium for $26.3 million.


On Thursday, the Chinese-owned conglomerate, Suning Group Ltd., confirmed it would buy an eight-percent stake in the hospital.


Under the terms of a partnership deal in which Suning owns 10 percent of ATCH's shares, it is understood that Suning plans to appoint a chief medical officer and chief medical director, which would in turn lead to an appointment of senior management.


In light of reports, that the doctors and hospital manager were aware that Hwang worked at the hospital just eight days after a suicide attempt, the health ministry has already started an investigation into the matter, a ministry spokesman told AFP.


At an international conference in Beijing last October, then Chinese President Hu Jintao condemned the "cavalier care and treatment" the country is currently showing to patients from the ATCH crisis, calling it a "horrible situation."
